Condominiums
December 18, 2003
A condominium is like an apartment - but you own it.
Your ownership extends inward from your interior walls,
floors and ceilings. You own everything on the inside,
but nothing on the outside - not the property, the
foundation, exterior walls or roof. You and all the other
unit owners share responsibility for these exterior
structures, in addition to any common property like
swimming pools, clubhouse, tennis courts and play
areas.
You're required to pay a monthly condo fee, which
covers general repairs and maintenance to the
common areas and normal maintenance of the
grounds and snow removal. While exterior repairs
and maintenance are the condo association's
responsibility, you are responsible for the interior
maintenance and repairs of your own unit.
